Welcome to F.A.S.T., the Free Agent Search Team. This page describes a friendly, low-stress way to reach out and make a difference in the world, especially for those who need your ideas, introductions, contacts or insights to move quickly from the free agent zone to the fully-employed zone. In this particular moment, the USA is suffering an undesirably high unemployment rate. Millions of people are looking for a sustainable way to work and contribute, while supporting themselves, their families and the economy. What they need more than anything is a chance to work. What they seek is the right place, the right people and the right company. What they will give back is hard work, loyalty and productivity. What the country will receive is one less person asking for federal or state monies, and one more person contributing to taxes, Social Security, Medicare and other "overhead" that the USA incurs every day in the billions of dollars. How can you help?

First of all, what's a Free Agent?

Anyone who is looking for work, doing free lance, "in transition", setting up a sole proprietorship or otherwise on the hunt for a new challenge that is economically viable is, for these purposes a Free Agent. This can be a full-time way of doing things (consulting) or a short-time period of networking, interviewing, re-branding or re-positioning oneself to get new employment.

What's the idea of the Free Agent Search Team - F.A.S.T.?

It's a community of people who want to participate in connecting with others. It's the person who is looking for work, the one who is building his/her own business looking for clients, the employed individual who is altruistic and concerned about fellow human beings, it's anyone who understands the power of networking one-on-one, to assist others and extend the reach of those who are free agents. It can also be the employer or entrepreneur seeking motivated and talented people. Why not help someone with a job lead or suggested path or introduction, if that action might utimately assist your own endeavor, somewhere down the road? It's not a promise, just a philosophy, that what goes around comes around, and if that's true, then participating in some positive way with F.A.S.T. could be good for you!

What does this mean and what's in it for me?

Basically, the idea of F.A.S.T. is to be open to just a few actions that will contribute to helping someone along what I call the Career Path Expressway™. For more on this, check out the blog at: www.TopExec.org/TopExecBlog which explains the ideas and philosophies about riding on that roadway throughout one's career. Some suggestions:

• Accept and nurture contacts with others you know via LinkedIn
• Consider utilizing Facebook or other social media to network with others you know
• Respond to email or phone inquiries asking for your ideas or suggestions
• Be thoughtful and creative about how you can help those who are now "Free Agents"
• Giving is better than receiving, and you have to give to get
• Ideas, contacts, suggestions, etc. that become part of the fabric of F.A.S.T. will be posted here or emailed out to those interested for their benefit
• Keep your ears and eyes open for connections, leads or other items that might be of value to a "Free Agent" you know
• Be open to the experience, contacts and ideas that a "Free Agent" can offer you, in return. The road runs both ways, of course
• Fill out the form below, and tell us what you might be aware of for the right "Free Agent". One connection here can lead to a lot more through this kind of networking
• Perhaps equally important is the "Do It Now" mentality; don't procrastinate, just do it, and make it F.A.S.T., for your benefit, and the benefit of others

By the way, you might say that the "honorary membership" is for those who want to help, even though their own situation may not be, at present, "free agent". A "charter membership" would be for someone who is going to be actively pursuing new opportunities, and for whom this F.A.S.T. community is one more venue for generating new ways of connecting. (There is absolutely no cost to particpate in this activity, only your time, ideas and input).
